Our Story

WELCOME TO MIKEY'S PIZZA
Mikey’s Pizza was founded by Mike and Mary Larson. In March of 2020 we announced with heavy hearts the passing of our beloved Mikey Larson.
Hi, I’m Salih Can Johnny Konuk, chef and founder of Mount Kaz Catering, here in the beautiful mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado.
I started cooking when I was just 12 years old in my family’s restaurant in Turkey. That’s where I learned that food is more than just something we eat—it’s a way to connect, to share, and to make people feel at home. No matter where you come from or who you are, there’s always a seat at the table.
Since moving to the United States in 2018 and building my life in Crested Butte, I’ve been lucky to turn that belief into my work. Through Mount Kaz Catering, I create personalized menus for weddings, private dinners, and gatherings of all kinds. I work closely with each client to bring their vision to life, always focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and the incredible farmers and producers we have here in Colorado.
My cooking is inspired by my roots in Turkish cuisine and shaped by the different cultures and kitchens I’ve been part of along the way. Every dish I create is meant to feel warm, honest, and full of flavor—something that brings people together and creates real moments around the table. Alongside catering, I also run The Rolling Kaz food truck and Mikey’s Pizza, where we serve our community with food that’s approachable, consistent, and made with care. Whether it’s a late-night meal, a quick slice, or a full wedding dinner, my goal is always the same—to make people feel welcome and taken care of.
For me, this work is very personal. I’m there with you, making sure everything is just right, because I truly care about the experience you and your guests have. It’s not just about food—it’s about creating memories, sharing joy, and bringing people closer together. At the end of the day, I believe food has the power to connect us all—and I’m grateful every day to be a part of that.
